VALERIE or Val as i always called her was born in colchester but moved at an early age to shropshire a place called Natmawr n/r Oswestry I met Val when i was serving in the forces stationed in Oswestry We got engaged in 1955 when i got demombed in July 56 Val came to Barrow with me to live with my parents and we got married in Trefonen nesr Natmawr in Oct 56 After our marrage we moved to Barrow Island Dunoon St in 1958 had 2 children Gary born 1960 ans Mandy born 1965 moved to Walney 1976 Val worked part time most of her married life at the Grenock sweet shop but sadly gave up her job that she really loved after shortly being diagnosed with cancer that was in 1994 I took my redundancy prior to that and that gave us almost ten years together spending lots of time at our caravan in Gisbon Nr Clithero and also holidays abroad Our lives came to a standstill when Val was no longer able to travel Val had a operation on her back hoping to relieve her pian but alas this left her paralised and every thing went down hill Finally her last few days where spent in St Mary hospice and was cared for with the upmost comfort and loving that anyone could wish for(THIS I WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL TO St MARYS HOSPICE AND STAFF) A WONDERFUL WONDERFUL PLACE.They say time is a great healer (DONT LET THEM KID YOU)You never heal the pain is always there Some days i smile with things that come back to me regarding Val.Other days i cry with the same thoughts, funny isnt it. But although Val has been taken away from me,she has left me with a wonderful family and Grandchildren and memories that can never be taken from me Grateful thanks to St Mary,s hospice for her loving care and attention and also for giving me this page to tell my stoty THANK YOU!!!!! to a place i will always donate As time gone by my youngest Granddsughter (Ellie ) asks me about Nanna Val as she calls her.I show her pictures of her and tell her tales about what times we had together and yes this some times makes me sad and agian other days i really enjoy telling Ellie some stories One thing above all i say her name every day i even call her name and ask her questions, i tell people who are in the same position as me that doing this helps me,
